Social is becoming more important for search; curated search. Look to influencers, celebrities, acquaintances and friends within our frame of reference for curating search for media, brands, products, content, information and activities
The idea of luxury is changing based on individual spheres of influence/frames of reference and their ability to interact and connect like never before; therefore there is more of a grassroots approach to defining luxury and this may vary considerably from ‘group to group’.
Anything rare is deemed valuable fashionable; in age where we are inundated with adverts/disruptive advertising it is now seen as much more unique to search for intimate, inimitable and authentic experiences.
At the same time, less disposable income, greater economic uncertainty = lower tolerance for risk
Celebrity investors and celebrity endorsement (celebs are now early adopters)
People lust after information, but relevant information, which should be provided based on voluntarily given preferences. There is a distrust of public and professional institutions. All of these factors, and more have created generation sell; empowering people to become entrepreneurs based out of technological parity and economic incentives
